Cardamom gives the opening something spicy and soft at the same time. After that it grows warmer and lightly sweet, without ever becoming loud — this is a fragrance that comes close rather than walks ahead.

How it develops

Cardamom opens — spicy, a little citrusy, warm and cool at once — and sets the tone for the whole fragrance straight away. The heart is aromatic and well-groomed: lavender, clean and a touch old-fashioned in the best sense, with cedar for the dryness and bergamot keeping it bright. The base is where the sensuality sits: vetiver, dry and earthy, with caraway adding a warm, faintly hay-like sweetness. Nothing shouts; everything stays close to the skin.

Who it's for, and when

Made for evenings and dates. Daytime is possible, but then you miss what it's good at. Looking for the same intimate warmth with iris and tonka bean, see A-130. Want elegant and well-groomed with more citrus and leather, V-80 is the neighbour.

How to wear it

Because it stays close to the skin you can use three sprays: neck, wrists and chest, on moisturised skin. Don't rub. One spray on a shirt collar keeps it near all evening.
