Bergamot and clove open sharp and spicy, then flowers and warm wood come forward with oud in the base. As an Extrait de Parfum the oil concentration is higher, so the spices sound fuller and the fragrance lasts considerably longer.

How it develops

Bergamot and clove open together: fresh and sharp beside warm and spicy, like an orange studded with cloves. The heart is floral and soft — violet, powdery and a little sweet, with jasmine making it white and full — and those two lift the fragrance from spice cupboard to drawing room. The base is where the name comes from: agarwood (oud), dark and smoky, with vanilla for the sweetness and sandalwood for a creamy, woody finish. As an Extrait it develops more slowly: the clove stays longer and the oud lasts deep into the night.

Who it's for, and when

Autumn, winter and evenings. For anyone who loves spices and oud and wants something that doesn't reference a well-known fragrance. Looking for oud with saffron and grandeur, see I-50. Want spicy-warm with cinnamon instead of clove, V-110 is the neighbour.

How to wear it

One or two sprays on the neck, on moisturised skin, don't rub. This Extrait fills a room; you rarely need more.
